Some stability
A reasonably uneventful three weeks or so has passed as far as RA goes. I have now taken three doses of Methotrexate (to be known hereafter as Meth) and am still on a reducing dose of steroids. I had my second of the regular blood tests today, much less painful than the first one which left a massive bruise. There is another one to follow in a fortnight. After that they reduce to one every month - or three depending on results.
Painwise everything is much the same - just twinges under my thumbs - whether this will go when the Meth kicks in is anyone's guess! I was hopeful that the warm, dry spring weather would improve things but I am still waiting for the warm dry weather! Hopefully we will get that soon.
Apart from that it has been a reasonably busy time. We went down to Stirling to see the wonderful Anthony John Clarke and Julia Porter and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Then came the saga of the mini cruise when we found ourselves in Birmingham with our passports in Aberdeen! A quick trip back home, an overnight stay (the cats were delighted to see us) then off to Edinburgh to catch a flight to Amsterdam - with passports this time!
There were three wonderful acts - Thea Gilmore, Steve Knightly and Track Dogs. I can recommend any of them if you want to hear some great music. Please do what you can to keep music live - just go and hear any band or artist. Too many music venues are still closing down.
On the subject of Track Dogs, they are looking for smallish (<100) venues in Scotland - preferably in or near the cities. If any of you know of any please let me know and I will pass the information on.
The mini cruise was also memorable for the wonderful company and food. If you get the chance to go on a Harmony Voyages cruise (or a Costa festival - they're the same people) take the chance - you won't regret it.
Back to the RA, I have been on several kinds of transport over the past week or so and have suffered no ill-effects - so that's good.
Apologies for the dearth of RA content in this but, as far as I am concerned, no news is good news. Hopefully the other stuff is of some interest.
Once again - thanks to our wonderful NHS. We all know that it's not perfect but we really need to keep it and fund it properly to give the brilliant people who work for it the resources to do an even better job.
Also please keep sharing and commenting - I really do appreciate it.
All my best to everyone - hope you are all keeping well.
Rob
Hi Rob. It's good to see you both enjoying life. RA is definitely not defining you or stopping you. Hope the drugs continue to work... and yes please to some warm spring weather soon!
