The weather question
So far it appears that warm weather may not do too much for my RA as I have been in Ibiza for a few days and I am still feeling pain in my knees. It did rain a lot for a couple of days though and I have had no other pain apart from in my hands.
I am down to 5mg of steroids a day, with only two days left on them, and the RA has not got significantly worse. Today was my 8th Meth dose so maybe it is working a bit although it really is hard to tell as i am not sure if I am meant to be totally pain free while I am on it. I am getting a phone call on Monday so that's something I will ask about.
I've still got blood tests do do. I am a total baby about getting needles stuck in me but regular blood tests are a part of my life now so I'll have to get used to them. Having said that, the last one was entirely painless.
Marian and I have been at a music festival in Ibiza and we both joined a ukulele group having been told that they welcomed total beginners. Marian was much better than I was, although I am now a virtuoso on the C chord. My trigger finger really does not seem to be too bad now so I am going to give learning a few more chords ago.
There was a lot of walking during the festival with most of it being on concrete so that may have contributed to the knee pain. We are now in a hotel in Ibiza Town. The idea was that we would be able to rest for a couple of days after the festival however there are many stairs down to where restaurants etc are so that has not quite gone to plan. The sun is shining and and it is warm, so that is good.
I could add a lot more about how brilliant the festival was and how wonderful the acts were but that's not really what this blog is about - although it does illustrate that an RA diagnosis is not the end of your active life.
As always thanks to the NHS who need to be properly funded.
