Reading may be bad for your health
Since I was diagnosed I have read everything I could find online about rheumatoid arthritis. That was a bad idea. There is an awful lot of contradictory stuff out there and the pictures I have seen of deformed limbs have made me worried at times. I'm now going to wait and see what the rheumatologist has to say.
Today is my first day of only 5mg of steroids. I had a whole week of only 10mg and some of the pain in my shoulders has come back and I still have the pain below my thumbs. It's nothing that I can't cope with though and some news I got this week has kind of put everything into perspective.
Life is still fairly normal and I've had visits to watch the Dons, to the pub and a wonderful whisky tasting although my right knee has been a bit on the sore side.
I had a couple of days this week when I felt really low but I may have caught a bit of a bug from school. Speaking of school, working three days is one of the things that really helps me. Just having something to do makes a lot of difference. I'm really not ready to retire yet.
I mentioned the Dons earlier on. It is amazing how different a 1-1 draw can make you feel. Despair after the Dundee game and euphoria after the Celtic one. As I write this Neil Warnock has just been confirmed as interim manager until the end of the season. We could be in for an interesting few months!
Things I won't take for granted - putting on socks. Impossible when I was at my worst, manageable now.
As usual I would appreciate any shares and comments. Remember, you can put your own name in where it says anonymous, that way I can see who you are.
Take care and all the best.
Rob
Definitely hard to sort out the genuine information from all the cr*p on the wild west web. If they are trying to sell something or are sponsored by drug companies then the information may be biased. But I expect you have worked that out.

DeleteHi there Bob, Are you finding alcohol consumption subsequently adversely impacts your arthritis?
ReplyDeleteSo far so good - but I am still on steroids so that may be why. Earlier on, when I was on no medication, it seemed to make no difference. I may have to ask the rheumatologist what he says - although I may ignore his advice!!
